Clean out the fridge Part II

When baking, follow directions.  When cooking, go by your own taste.  ~Laiko Bahrs

I love this quote and it totally describes the way I approach both!  Recently I began developing an interest in baking, but I rarely eat what I make.  I am not sure if it is a curse or a blessing but I do not have a very strong sweet tooth.  I prefer salty foods like chips and salsa!  My husband on the hand has a sweet tooth unlike anything I have ever seen, especially for a man!  I enjoy trying out my baking skills knowing that my sweet treats won’t go to waste!

Tonight I am making cookies!  I love to freeze cookies and then sneak one or two from the freezer when I go down to do laundry(which is rare)!

For dinner, Jake and I followed the theme “Clean out the fridge” so I decided to make a "Leftovers" Pizza!  It sounds gross but it actually turned out to be really yummy!  We had left over meatloaf so I warmed it in the microwave and tore it into pieces.  We also had left over pork chops and smoked sausage so I cut them into bite-sized pieces.  I also chopped up some onion and peppers that were in the fridge and shredded some left over cheese!  I had some left over pizza sauce and alfredo sauce so I poured each on one half of the pizza.  I placed the pork, onions, a few peppers, and parmesan and mozzarella cheese on the alfredo side. The sausage, burger, peppers, onions, and cheddar went on the red side!  Baked in the oven for 30 minutes and va-la, deliciousness!

Now I am off to pack for the lake!  Have  a great Friday and safe Memorial Day weekend!
