Omaha! Jake and I really enjoy this city – it’s not too big, it has enough to do to keep us entertained, and it has enough restaurants to feed you everyday for a year or more! Jake and I enjoy going out to eat and trying new restaurants so I budget for this each week! Last night we headed downtown to try The Old Mattress Factory for dinner! We love the atmosphere of downtown – we both agree we could never live there but it is always a fun “date night” experience!
The Mattress Factory also known, as “The Matt” is located near the Qwest Center! The beautiful historic brick building dates back to 1883 creating a rustic scene once you step inside! The large open layout is inviting but also creates a noisy background.
I am not a fan of fried or greasy food, but I am a sucker for onion rings. Jake and I are on a quest to find the best onion rings in Omaha! With that being said we began our meal with an order of beer battered onion rings. Not to bad – not too greasy, great crunch, but the mustard sauce was a little too vinegary.
For dinner Jake had a pork tenderloin sandwich – it was yummy! I tried the portabella mushroom sandwich. I choose to eat this sammy open faced (without the bun). The portabella and caramelized onions were cooked perfectly, the cheese melted nicely, but the aioli sauce added a spice to this sweet sandwich that seemed out of place. All in all not a bad meal, good prices, and fun atmosphere!
Today, Jake and I set out for Canoyer Garden Center to pick up out some flowers for our planters and veggies for our garden. Just as we got home the sun came out and we decided to plant what we have purchased! Grow little garden grow!
Now I’m off to watch “No Strings Attached” that we rented from Red Box! Have a great evening!
We usually go to the Mat before concerts downtown, the quesadilla is pretty good :-)
ReplyDeleteI watched "No Strings Attached" last night. I loved it! Enjoy the evening.
