Homemade Pizza Rolls - 30 minutes or less!

Who remembers Totino's Pizza Rolls?  Ah ...the care free days of being kid!  One of the things I looked forward to in the summer was hitting the pool with my friends, playing softball, and my mom stocking the freezer with these crispy, cheesy rolls to munch on while she and my dad were at work.  My sister and I never argued during the summer when it came to what was for lunch!

I saw a commercial for these the other day and decided to try to make my own.  As I tried to muster up the perfect recipe, I got stuck with what to use for the crust - egg roll wrappers or crescent rolls?

Having both in the house, I decided to try both and pit one against the other in a verses challenge.

I began by combining diced chicken, chopped pepper and onion, and cheese to a bowl.  In another bowl, I added chopped Canadian bacon, scallions, and cheese.

I poured a 1/2 cup of pizza sauce on each and stirred.

I filled an egg roll wrapper with the chicken mixture and rolled.

I rolled the crescent rolls out so they made a square and then pinched the dough so there were no seams. Then I filled it with the Canadian bacon mixture and rolled.

Place in the oven and bake for 20 minutes.

The pizza made with egg rolls was not as crispy as I had hoped and Jake was not a huge fan.  The egg roll was thin enough to resemble the crust of a pizza roll but the taste and texture did do it for me
The crescent roll pizza bites were a huge hit!  Crunchy, Crispy, and flaky on the outside, cheesy and gooey on the inside! I also added garlic sprinkle to the top so it was bursting with flavor inside and out!   So good -  Jake and I almost fought it out for the last one!
