“Bacon, the magical meat!”
This quote was taken directly from the mouth of my meat-loving husband! His fascination and love for bacon is admirable, but my veggie loving heart doesn’t share the feeling! Don’t get me wrong – there is something to be said about the flavor that bacon can add to a dish. I mean what would a BLT be without the bacon? And I can appreciate a good bacon-cheese burger, but I can honestly admit that I am not someone who gets fired up when tickets go on sale for Des Moines, Iowa’s annual Bacon Fest! Chocolate covered bacon does not excite me - enjoy you bacon lovers! I'll eat my carrots and hummus!
Truly and honestly one of the reasons I do not like bacon (besides what it does to my arteries) is the whole cooking process. It is greasy, splatters while cooking, and I am not found of how it makes my house smell. I prefer to eat bacon when it is made by someone else! So now that you know how I feel about bacon, it only makes sense that we have had cooked with it two nights in a row!
To keep my bacon-loving husband happy, I decided to try a new recipe – Bacon Cheeseburger Casserole!
I started by browning some ground beef. I also added some onion and garlic to give it some flavor. The cook your bacon. (I used what was left from last night’s meal)
Next, I added ketchup, mustard, and some Red Hot BBQ Hot Sauce. Pour into a greased pan.
Top with bacon.
Spread cheese over mixture.
Top with tator tots.
Bake for 30 minutes or until tots are golden brown and the cheese is melted! Serve!
This meal was Sloppy Joe meets Tator Tot casserole! Quick, Simple, and Delicious!
