Best Thing We Ever Found in a Ditch

Jake and I live 1.5 miles from the new Werner Park Stadium.  Home of the Omaha Stormchasers!  We invited some friends over last evening to have dinner at our house and then head out to the stadium to catch the baseball game.  Jake smoked some chicken breast and I whipped up a pasta salad, a fruit salad, and my buffalo dip.  Our friends also brought some sides providing us with more food than six people could possibly eat!

Our dining room table has seen better days (it has been used by my grandparents, parents, and now us) so we decided to entertain our guest utilizing the patio set we have outside.  It was the perfect evening for outdoor dining and a baseball game, or so we thought.   Unfortunately as we finished the last few bites of our tasty dinner we started to feel sprinkles.  Suddenly a storm moved in and just as quick as we could get inside it began pouring and hailing!  At one point we could longer see the stadium lights or scoreboard, which are visible from our house.  We decided to take a rain check on the game. Great, now how are we going to keep everyone entertained?  Enter Rock Band!

Two years ago Jake was mulching a sub-division in Omaha when he stumbled upon an Xbox lying in a ditch.  Curious, he continued to skower the ditch and eventually stumbled upon a garbage bag containing the controllers, a few games, and connecting wires.  Our theory is that it was tossed out a window by an angry girlfriend.  We plugged it, crossed our fingers and it worked!  Jake and I are not gamers by any means – sometimes on Friday evenings Jake will brush up on his guitar skills while I exercise my vocal chords, but that is once in a great while.   We really only turn on the Xbox when we have company over.   Watching our guest play last night was a belly laugh of a good time!  Best thing we ever found in a ditch!  Check us out!

Today Jake and I made a run to Sams Club to stock up on a few necessities and Jake snuck these into the cart!  Our intention was to take them to the lake with us this weekend, but we couldn’t even fight the urge to not open them when we got home.  This is why I do not buy or keep junk food in our house!  I have lot to pack into this week before we leave for the lake – report cards, ugh.  Have a great Monday!
